Managing your files in a hosted scenario can be intimidating. Keeping track of directories, their structures and their permissions can prove to be quite a task. CPanel's File Manager helps to centralize all your file management tasks, allowing you to focus on the real job of managing your hosting.
The File Manager interface presents your directory structure in a panel on the left, with your home folder selected by default. On the right, a list of all files and directories contained within the selected directory from the left is displayed.
The details of each file/directory are provided as well: size, last modified date, file/directory type and permissions. See our article on Understanding File Permissions for an explanation of what the permission numbers mean.
